BEST GAS HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE IN ITS CLASS

The 7.3L OHV PFI Gas V8 Engine in the 2022 Ford Super Duty® is the most powerful gas engine in a full-size pickup and the largest V8 in its class, with Best-In-Class horsepower and torque to prove it. The top-of-the-line gas engine generates the best gas torque in its class of 475 lb.-ft at 4,000 rpm along with best gas horsepower in its class of 430 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. *

  • 6.2L flex-fuel V8 engine

    6.2L FLEX-FUEL GAS V8

    The 6.2L Flex-Fuel Gas V8 is the standard engine in F-250 and F-350 models. It's engineered to deliver peak torque at lower rpm and generates high torque throughout the midrange of the power band.

This “pushrod” V8 design optimizes low-end torque, and the variable-cam timing helps to optimize high-output power. And for the durability also required, the 7.3L features a new cast-iron block with four-bolt and cross-bolted main bearings plus a forged-steel crankshaft.     6.7L POWER STROKE® V8 TURBO DIESEL

    The available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel includes a 36,000-psi fuel-injection system featuring injectors that can measure and atomize fuel up to eight times per stroke to optimize combustion. It also features stronger block, cylinder heads, connector rods and bearings, plus new forged-steel pistons, which means 475 hp and 1,050 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm. It produces maximum horsepower at a lower RPM than any other engine at 2,600 rpm. * Finally, the engine features a newly redesigned electric-actuated variable-geometry turbocharger that improves throttle response and efficiency.

  • 10 speed automatic transmission

    FORD TORQSHIFT® 10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

    All Super Duty® models (except the 6.2L V8 F-250) feature a standard TorqShift® 10-Speed Automatic Transmission, engineered to optimize drive ratios and improve shift performance. You can choose from five standard selectable modes — Normal, Tow/Haul, Eco, Slippery, Deep Sand/Snow and, with the available Tremor  Package, Rock Crawl mode. There’s also the available Live-Drive Power Takeoff (PTO) Provision with Mobile Mode* offering available Best-In-Class torque** to help you power heavy aftermarket accessories.

FORD TORQSHIFT® -G 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

The standard 6.2L Gas V8 in the F-250 is teamed with the Ford TorqShift® -G 6-Speed Automatic. Experience responsive power delivery and seamlessly smooth shifting. The SelectShift® feature includes Progressive Range Select (for overdrive lockout) plus Full Manual. Tow/Haul minimizes gear hunting uphill; downhill, it prevents upshifting and gaining speed which reduces reliance on brake pressure to slow the vehicle.

DIESEL ENGINE EXHAUST BRAKING

The available 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel incorporates a driver-activated engine-exhaust brake. It restricts the turbocharger’s exhaust flow to generate back pressure and slow the vehicle, providing greater control while travelling downhill, regardless of vehicle load or road grade. Also, because the engine brake helps minimize having to apply pedal pressure, brake fade and lining wear are reduced, lowering the cost of maintenance. Three settings are available: On, Off, and Auto. The Auto setting modulates engine braking as needed to help maintain the speed you want based on accelerator and brake pedal use.

CNG and Propane logos

ADVANCED FUEL CAPABILITY

Compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane are advanced fuel options to unleaded gasoline with the CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package* available on the 6.2L V8 Gas Engine. What’s more, the CNG/Propane Package with the addition of the necessary upfits for bi-fuel capability enables the 6.2L or 7.3L V8 engine to run on either liquefied propane gas or unleaded gas. The 6.2L V8 is a flex-fuel engine, capable of running on E85 (85% ethanol, 15% regular gasoline); the available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel is B20-capable (20% biodiesel, 80% petrodiesel).
*Vehicle will be equipped with the standard factory gasoline fuel system. The CNG/ Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package includes hardened exhaust valves and valve seats. It does not include compressed natural gas/propane fuel tanks and lines, etc. See your dealer for details.

AVAILABLE OPERATOR-COMMANDED REGENERATION WITH ACTIVE INHIBIT (DIESEL)

Some operating conditions, such as long idling, don’t generate enough engine heat for the diesel to automatically burn off soot in the diesel particulate filter. That’s where available Operator-Commanded Regeneration with Active Inhibit (diesel only) comes in. When the warning light comes on, pushing the activation button raises the exhaust temperature to burn off the soot, after which the exhaust temperature reverts to normal. The Active Inhibit feature allows delay of regeneration when the vehicle is sitting over combustible materials such as dry leaves or grass. Once in a safe place, the driver can manually start the regeneration process. Recommended for commercial applications.
